Educator/Independent

I started my professional playing career at the age of 16. The journey began with myself standing side of stage at many live performances, viewing a ton of great local drummers and absorbing every nuance possible from what stickings the drummers were executing, right through to how that performer connected with other audience members. "Magical stuff" that truly ignited my passion to get on stage and into the recording studio as soon as possible. Previous original bands that I have recorded and performed with were one of Australia's first hardcore acts, Massappeal (one word), who have enjoyed multiple re-releases over the decades. Was a member of Killing Time/Mantissa who also secured charting Independent and mainstream success. I also lead and active career in the education sector as a Drumming Clinician specializing in Rudimental kit applications.

  • WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

The most recent memorable playing experience for me was October 2018 whilst demonstrating some snare drum exercises for a group of workshop participants, my hands felt great that day and the sound in the venue was excellent! The students were very gracious and it made my day"

  • WORDS OF WISDOM FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF DRUMMERS

High Standards drive my creativity, The Level was set so High by the Likes of Tony Williams, Buddy Rich and John Bonham. Their legendary and breathtaking live and recorded works "Keep me honest" I know what the standards are, so I always look to them for creative direction.

  • FAVORITE ZILDJIAN CYMBAL/COMBO

My favorite Vic Firth Instrument is the 5A Hickory Wood Tip American Classic, it's super diverse and can cut the jazz and Rock gigs I do very effectively. It's also a wonderful go-to product that I'm able to recommend to all of my students, without any hesitation. My students after a short amount of time become fellow Vic Firth Converts.
