Kojey Radical

Funny enough, I actually started off playing the Cello around 8 years old but drums was always in my heart. Then one day there was a music clinic in my local community center for drums, bass and guitar. I met a drummer there called Dawne Adams who played for Lionel Richie at the time and she took me under her wing. I learnt so much from her and began to fall in love with drums even more. I then started playing drums at church and kept developing my skills, as I wanted to expand and pursue a career as a professional drummer. Since then Ive kept on building but what fuels me even more is the progression Ive seen in each stage of my career. I have my own studio where I record drums for artists, teach and make content for my YouTube channel. I have also played for a variety of different artists across different genres such as Kojey Radical, Stefflon Don, Yolanda Brown, Aitch, Adekunle Gold, Young T & Bugsey, Nathaniel Bassey, and many more.

  • WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

My most memorable moment would definitely have to be playing at Glastonbury with Kojey Radical. We had a couple sets that weekend but on one particular set, the synergy on stage was amazing and we sounded really tight as a band. We managed to pull off a really good performance with all odds against us for that show.

  • WORDS OF WISDOM FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF DRUMMERS

My creativity is inspired mainly by watching live shows and listening to albums that some of my favourite drummers have played on. Especially when I’m in the studio tracking for other people or doing a live show, I always like to listen to other musicians to get inspiration.

  • FAVORITE ZILDJIAN CYMBAL/COMBO

I chose Vic Firth because it’s the only company that have enough models for me to express myself differently and have sticks to suit every style of music I play. I think the question should be why wouldn’t you want to play Vic Firth haha! I’d say my favourite stick at the moment are the F1s because I find them extremely versatile and the combination of the weight and the round tip helps me achieve a very consistent tone out of my drums.
